Without roots, flowers can not grow
We were founded in 2002 by practitioners Odiri Ighamre and Paul Aiken, after their successful African Caribbean Artists Development Programme ‘Evwreni Productions’ that delivered arts training in UK schools and Prisons.
Evwreni Productions work revealed the need for longer term, creative and cultural, extracurricular learning for children and young people in the borough of Haringey. KORI was born in response to that need. We’ve grown up a lot, from our ‘fledgling’ days of 20 Children in a Hornsey church hall, to a programme that has impacted and worked with hundreds of young people, some who we supported from primary school right through to adulthood. We are immensely proud of our work and growth and have seen some of our young people become successful artists, coaches and managers amongst other things, all with a passion for developing their communities; some of them have even gone on to lead with us!
