KORI was visited by 33 teachers and youth workers from different schools and organisations in Sweden. They received a presentation on KORI’s programmes and discussed challenges of youth work in London especially with the recent cuts to youth services.
Following this presentation, one of the visitors brought a group of 20 Swedish Youth work students to visit us at our Hub. They came as part of a partnership with Karlskoga Folk High School. We delivered a presentation of our work and held a Q&A. It was great to share and compare youth work practice between the two countries. All the visitors were active youth workers and were very passionate about creating change in their communities. Sweden has seen major change recently and has taken on lots of refugees, it was interesting hearing about the process of integration and how youth work has played a part in it. We found many parallels between practice in the two countries, but also many clear differences.
