This week Hittinui Cattani, drumming tutor at KORI, supported a group of young people and staff to learn about African Drumming in the skip garden at the great Urban Camping Project run by Global Generation in Kings Cross.

Young Artist Adina Paley spent a term outreaching with Earlham Primary Schools’s year six exploring mask making. They used the theme Of Africa and water to create masks for a school exhibition.

Taking music to the community, musicians Onome and Selorm led music development in singing and African drumming. The group performed as part of Haringey music concerts at St Mary’s Primary School.

Art club – Trees

Art club looked at the importance of trees in the world and discovered that trees are the lungs of the planet, breathing in carbon dioxide and breathing out oxygen. They also found that they provide habitat for birds and other wild life and  absorb and reduce noise pollution!

Art club – Endangered species

The children looked at Turtles, one  of the endangered animal species on our planet. They learnt that a species is called endangered when there are so few of its kind left it could disappear from the planet altogether and become extinct.
